Today, in the Belmont horse race, a bird one the race, but not Mine that Bird and jockey Calvin Borel. Summer Bird, riden by Kent Desormeaux, won the Belmont. Borel was trying to get his own triple crown, having won the Kentuckey Derby with Mine that Bird and the Preakness Stakes with Rachel Alexandria. But there was no happier rider than Desormeaux. Last year he won the Derby and Preakness aboard Big Brown, but lost the Belmont. In 1998 he road Real Quiet in the Belmont to try for a Triple crown, but was beaten by Victory Gallop by a nose in a photo finish. Summer Bird started with 11-1 odds, raced past Mine that Bird and got a 2 length victory over Dunkirk, and Mine that Bird ended up coming in third. Now it has been 32 years since a horse won a Triple Crown, and hopefully next year, a talented, lucky horse will win a Triple Crown!
