Pet Rock!

I got a pet rock. I call him Rocky right now, but I will give him a better name later. I took him to school, and every time someone tried to annoy me, I just said "I have Rocky!" and the got quiet. I taught him how to sit, lie down, play dead, stay, jump through a hoop, roll over, and attack (The last three need some help.). He lives in a cleared out dresser drawer.

Do you have a pet rock? Did you have one as a kid? Do you want one? Please post about it in the comments. I want to know about them!

All Dogs Go To Heaven

Idiotic People

I had a post on one of my old blogs and a took some parts from it. They are stories from people who had experiences with idiots.
-----------

We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, 'NO, it's not.' Four is larger than two..'

We haven't used Sears repair since.

-------------
My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce. ' He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
From Kansas City
---------------

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine. She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the ligh t is red. Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'

She was a probation officer in Wichita , KS
-----------------

At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker. She was leaving the company due to 'downsizing.' Our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.

This was a lunch at Texas Instruments
------------------

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!' His reply, ' I know. I already got that side.'

This was at the Ford dealership in Canton , Mississippi
------------------

I hope you enjoyed hearing these. They were on a post in the Showdog.com Off-Topic Forum a long time ago.

Name Change

I have changed the name of this blog from Big Yellow Lab to BlogFun. I have changed it due to the content of this blog, Big Yellow Lab sounds like a dog related site, while BlogFun widens the content that I can add and will show up better in search engines.

For right now I am only changing the the name and template, I am keeping the old URL for a while. I will post about a week in advance the new URL so everyone can still visit.

Mine that Bird beaten in the Belmont

Today, in the Belmont horse race, a bird one the race, but not Mine that Bird and jockey Calvin Borel. Summer Bird, riden by Kent Desormeaux, won the Belmont. Borel was trying to get his own triple crown, having won the Kentuckey Derby with Mine that Bird and the Preakness Stakes with Rachel Alexandria. But there was no happier rider than Desormeaux. Last year he won the Derby and Preakness aboard Big Brown, but lost the Belmont. In 1998 he road Real Quiet in the Belmont to try for a Triple crown, but was beaten by Victory Gallop by a nose in a photo finish. Summer Bird started with 11-1 odds, raced past Mine that Bird and got a 2 length victory over Dunkirk, and Mine that Bird ended up coming in third. Now it has been 32 years since a horse won a Triple Crown, and hopefully next year, a talented, lucky horse will win a Triple Crown!

New Constellation Program: To the Moon and Beyond!

NASA’s new Constellation program will bring humans back to the moon, and beyond. It starts with Ares I, which is scheduled to go to the moon in 2020. Ares I is a two-stage rocket configuration which is topped by the Orion crew vehicle. It is unique also because, unlike most rockets, It is reusable, like the Space Shuttle. It is also supposed to take crew to the International Space Station (ISS) no later than 2014. It hopefully may also be the craft that will take us to Mars.
Ares V is another rocket in the Constellation Program. It is a cargo vehicle, a “heavy lifter”. It will handle the delivery of everything from the lunar landing craft and materials for establishing a moon base, to supplies such as food water, and other necessities for human life beyond Earth. This first test flight of Ares V is scheduled for around 2018.
Altair is the name of the Lunar Lander to be used in the Constellation program to land humans on the moon. Altair will be able to land four humans on the moon, providing life support and a base for a week of surface exploration. It will be launched aboard the Ares V rocket into orbit, where it will rendezvous with the Orion crew vehicle.
There is much more to discover on the moon and beyond, and Constellation will help us discover them. To learn more go to www.nasa.gov and go to ’Moon and Mars. Who knows what’s out there in space?
